"And you have to make sure to take pictures of the things that need fixing right away and when you get in the apartment-"
"Oh, honey, the caterer called. He wants to know the final guest count-"
"-don't be afraid to ask the landlord about anything you think might be funny about the place. You're a Park, dammit, you have a right to-"
"-and the florist wanted to know just what Junsu's allergic to because he has a few arrangements for you to go over-"
"-complain all you want. Now, there are some apartments on the East side of Seoul that look promising, although the units on the South have a better reputation-"
"-and I've found some great places for you to register for gifts, not to mention a place to get your tuxes fitted. I really think you'd look darling in blue on black, you and Junsu both."
"And I've got some good friends with connections in the North and West."
"So what do you say, son?"
"Son? Where first?"
"Yooch-"
"I'll deal with it later."
"What?"
"Later?"
"What?"
"When is 'later'? You're running out of time and you've hardly-"
"Later! Just... later."
Yoochun stormed out of the room, closing the door tightly against his parents' meddling and locking it behind him. He combed a hand through his messy locks and sighed, the strong oak of the door behind him bracing.
True, he had said forever with Junsu. True, he agreed that it should be official, but this was too much. Vows, agreement, contracts, caterers, florists, fittings...
Wasn't 'I love you' enough?
He wasn't sure how much more he could take of the whole circus act. He didn't want to be part of the show if this was what it meant, if he needed to commercialize his love for the world.
It was all ceremony- business- and he couldn't take part in a love like that, even if it was the love of his life. Even if it was Junsu.
He hardly saw the other anymore anyways if it weren't for planning their "necessary" near futures. Growling a little, Yoochun moved to lie on his bed, flopping down on his stomach. He squeezed his eyes shut tightly, welcoming the dark behind his eyelids as a blank canvas. He tried to imagine forever with Junsu like he had so many times before- beaches in the tropics and lazy days under the covers with nothing but skin between them and the whispers of their voices with the soft sound of pages being turned...
...but the invasive voices of his parents kept dispelling the dizzy daydreams.
Real life first, huh? Leave the dreams for later.
Yoochun cursed. How was forever going to exist like that?
Junsu laugh rang in his mind, pure, loving and Yoochun sighed. The laugh turned forced, something from the receptions and garden parties and formalities Yoochun thought briefly about spending the rest of his life like that and shakes his head.
"I can't do that. I can't live like that... it's too much."
-
Yoochun looked away as polite laughter filled the venue. Junsu's parents were trying to out-shmooze his own and vice versa- he couldn't stand it.
It was too much to be expected to fill the form of couple. Too much to have to negotiate everyone's dues, to set up receptions, ceremonies, to do everything properly.
He couldn't love like that.
"I can't do this anymore!"
Everyone looked up at him in alarm. He mother looked up, "Darling, whatever do you mean?"
Yoochun realized he was standing with his hands on the table, but he shook his head and went on, looking at Junsu seated across the table.
"I can't do this! I can't be a perfect couple like this! I can't deal with the ceremony and the business expectations. That's not what a relationship is supposed to be about! Su, Baby, I'm sorry. I just..."
He trailed off. The relief in Junsu's eyes hurt, but he knew he couldn't carry on like they were.
It surprised him when Junsu's lips were on his, heedless of their parents.
"Chunnie, I knew there was a reason I loved you."
They drove off into the sunset as a couple, like they always wanted.
("Chunnie, is this your parents car?"
"Huh? Oh yeah... didn't think of that."
"Whaddaya say we ditch it in the next town..."
"Sounds good to me baby, but where are we gonna go?"
"...Plane? Vegas? How about we join the mile high club Chun?"
"..God, I knew there was a reason I loved you.")
