new love

I love my scooter. It's awesome for everything I need around Richmond. When the speed limit exceeds 55, as it does often outside of the city, I would be more comfortable with a bit more power. We visited a motorcycle shop in Roanoke on our trip and I met someone new. When I eventually upgrade... it may be to something like this. I give you... the ( Read more... )

Nice things about a bigger bike for long trips / mountains:
1) excess of power to meet or exceed the speed limit going up steep grades
2) no need to run full (or mostly full) throttle for long periods of time
3) more ability to carry things
4) more stability at higher speeds

That said, I felt way overgunned riding through richmond on my bike. It just was too much for downtown / the Fan. If we moved back I'd get a scoot.

You might take a look at a used SV 650 as they are pretty cheap used. This was essentially the previous bike.

a bit more power? ain't nothing a new exhaust won't fix. i was also toying with the idea of a bigger, badder ride but after i got my sito plus, my desires subsided.

yeah. I probably will upgrade the exhaust and possibly the carb system at some point. If it can generate enough power to go 65-70, I'll be happy. If you accidentally end up on I-81, I think you'll understand. :) (story to come on LJ later!)

remap the Air-Fuel ratio with a power commander, larger header [heat-wrapped as well], port & polish the internals, re-gear the sprockets (smaller for higher top end-larger for low end torque), K&N air filter, velocity stacks for the air box?.. at least that's what I'd do for my bike if I wanted more ass...
