So as my mad ambition to add more sections that you can shake a stick at but with that same obsessive attention to detail to DCAU Resource, I've recently started watching Teen Titans. So far I just have the last six episodes (Lightspeed up to Things Change) of the last season to watch ( Read more... )

Maybe after Batman: The Brave and the Bold, you realized a series can be more fun and doesn't have to be DCAU to be awesome. I didn't warm up to Teen Titans until the end of the first season. It has its own flavor, the references (not just to the comics but also anime) are a lot of fun.

I like to think of the movie as happening after the series ends, but there's no definitive proof.

That's a good point. Legion of Superheroes softened me up then The Brave and The Bold convinced me that a series can be fun and not corny.

The Mad Mod and Control Freak episodes seem to have the most ridiculous amounts of comic book, anime, pop culture, TV show, and movie references.

Interesting. Do you think it takes place after simply because of when it came out or within the story when Beast Boy is insistent on taking a vacation (he's burnt out from the events of season 5)?

I think the movie takes place after the series because Starfire and Robin become a couple in it and they were still in the "Will they, or won't they?" stage in season five.

How the Titans met is detailed in the episode Go.

Hmm...interesting. I had the opposite conclusion. I don't think they were ever a couple at the end of the movie. I think they only confessed their feelings for each other and were not in the steady phase. Then in season 5, I interpreted the nuances as them being more open about what they thought about each other upon the events of the movie.

And yada yada, in an interview from Titans Tower, Glen Murakami answered that "We developed it between seasons four and five, so in some ways, it fits in between those seasons. But I don't think that really matters much." So it's good in way that it's open ended for fans.

Yeah, I watched Go! yesterday after I posted this LJ. Season 5 overall dealt with origins a lot more. I thought it was odd but I understood how they didn't show Batman anywhere but they could have at least said his name in the scene where Robin beats the thief up. We've seen bats in this ep and season 1, Wayne Enterprises once in season 1, and the Batcave oath memory in season 3...they could have said it once.
