That is quite true. Joan Didion quote from the Wikipedia page: "Every window was lit, to lurid effect, as if the interior of the structure might be on fire."

To agree with ziqueenmab, though, does need more glowy windows for the full effect.
(When I was young, a shop in Los Altos sold those christmas ornaments that are tiny houses with a lightbulb inside. We bought a couple and I'd always love trying to peer in the windows (they were small enough that it was very hard to do, so the illusion was maintained).
