i don't really like to be away from home for extended periods. i understand that it would be better of me to simply pop in and have lunch with you than to do what i have done (that is, not visit you at all, despite a number of trips to the city) but i feel that if i am going to visit, i should make it longer than a brief 'hello' in the course of a 15-hour u-turn (as most of my trips to chicago are). that is, i tend to head down for a concert on the day of the show and, if i can help it, leave immediately after the show (at 3am) or the next morning at the latest ( ... )

the thing is, I can lessen the financial costs of coming, too. I have a house. I have a guest room. I have numerous couches. I even have a kitchen that is stocked with food. You don't even have to share with the cats.

I know you don't like being away too long, but maybe you could give it a try for a day or two. With everything going on, it couldn't hurt.
