I don't know, man. That kind of thinking may have been right in the nineties. But the reality is that the parties have changed so much that these views are just plain dated and wrong.

She just didn't know what she was talking about, she's in the scientific field, not politics. Plus she's a woman. What the hell does she know?

First of all, Jamie Grifo is a man. And a man with far more education than you or I. You don't get to high professorial and directorship positions without knowing your way around the political scene, particularly at a large university like NYU. At places like that, the entire administrative structure is political in nature. Additionally, though, the attitude is still relatively correct in 2005 - nobody can deny that Democrats tend towards regulation while Republicans do not, and nobody can deny that except for reproductive issues that interfere with traditional Christian values (abortion, contraception, etc.), Republicans tend to throw money out at scientists. Key example: Bill Frist. Republicans would rather states deal with researchers and money than do it themselves. And don't make gross generalizations about women.
