The lecture hadn't been so bad, all things considered. But it had stretched out a little longer than he thought necessary, brought on by the unrelenting need of every single Vulcan student to stand and ask a question of the professor. They were still queuing up when Bones made his apologies to those seated near him, as he stood and made his way out of the room and out of the building.
Fuck, it was hot already. Not fully acclimated yet, Bones seemed to have forgotten how to deal with temperatures on the warm side. Jogging down the steps, his mind was occupied with where he was in relation to the visitor's quarters and how to get back to his room - and he wasn't watching where he was going, and walked straight into the back of a young woman standing there.
