Nice to see you again, Captain [Jim and Bones]

Aug 18, 2013 19:09

When Leonard had suggested that he and Jim pretend to be strangers, he had meant it as a lark, just to get rid of the awkwardness that had seemed to follow them from the Mojave. But it had turned out to be a great idea, a way of seeing each other through fresh eyes. The Jim Kirk that he took to the movies and walked hand in hand back to his house ( Read more... )

Jim tried to settle the unexpected bout of nerves as he walked up to Bones' front door. He told himself it was the novelty of not being in constant contact for a few days, but there was a fair amount of worry over his plans for the night. Maybe it was too much, or too conventional. He reminded himself that whatever else tonight was, it was two best friends sharing a meal. But these roles they had stepped into were more fun than he'd anticipated. More eye-opening, too, as they took the time to get to know each other better, and ask the questions they'd never thought to before.

And then there'd been their date, the other night. After they'd returned from the movies and had wandered through the park... he didn't want to ever forget the look on Bones' face when he'd invited him back, and he knew he wouldn't forget the rest of that night, lying together. Kissing and talking. Touching, but not with any other intent than to learn each other's bodies and figure out what felt good ( ... )

Even though he knew Jim was coming over, he still jumped at the sound of the knock at the door. He wasn't prepared for the feelings inside at the sight of Jim standing there, dressed up and cleaned up and looking like a man coming courting. "Hey," he said, opening the door a little wider. "Come on in. I'm ready if you are."

Leonard reached for his wallet, making sure he had it. "Been thinking about this all day," he said, unable to take his eyes off of Jim. Maybe it was the casual clothes, the lack of Starfleet all around them regulating their lives. They really seemed like two different people meeting under these new circumstances, and in made Leonard happy to know that even here, out of their element they had that magic between them, that familiar click, mixed with some new feelings. "You gonna give me a hint about where we're going?"

"So have I," Jim admitted as he stared back at Bones. He smiled and leaned in to brush a soft kiss over his lips, one hand skimming down Bones' arm to lace their fingers together. "You look amazing," he murmured. Then he shook his head, chuckling softly as they headed back out the door ( ... )

That kiss, damn - it gave Leonard the shivers, as did the way Jim held the door for him. Little touches that made him feel special, being on the receiving end of Jim's attention.

The car was new, and he wondered if was some sort of impulse purchase. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a starship captain drives a sports car." Buckling himself in, he leaned back as Jim started the car, grinning at the rumble of the engine as they pulled out into the street. Inside his head he was trying to figure out where Jim hadn't gone, a place he'd wanted to go before. "Remind me to send Nyota a thank you gift later for introducing us."

Leonard nodded at the mention of being busy. "I haven't had to go into work yet, got another couple days left of my leave. But I have been working like crazy around the house, checking all these little things off my list. I mean, I know I'm going back up into space soon, my captain's not gonna let us get lazy here on the ground."

Jim woke slowly, shifting and stretching an arm out, reaching for Bones. But all he encountered were empty sheets and he turned over, his brow a little furrowed as his eyes fluttered open. For a moment he was worried, thinking maybe Bones had decided to leave or been called away for an emergency, but when his eyes focused he saw him there, leaning against the door to the bathroom ( ... )

Jim's hand reaching for him answered every question Leonard had rumbling inside him. There was nothing hesitating in Jim's eyes, no questions. Everything, anything would be okay, whatever they wanted and Leonard walked toward that big bed, reaching in his own turn for Jim's hand.

Climbing back on the bed, Leonard found himself crawling over Jim, lowering his body down over Jim, settling between his legs. Noses brushed against each other playfully before their lips touched. "Did you sleep well?" he asked, burying his neck in the warm skin of Jim's neck.

He settled onto his back with a sleepy, pleased noise as Bones climbed over him. Jim grinned as they nuzzled against each other, his hands coming up to skim over Bones' biceps, tracing the lines of muscle as he settled over him. "Mmm, yeah, I did sleep well." His grin spread, growing into a full-fledged smile, warm and easy. "Felt good, having you here with me."

Jim slid one hand up over Bones' shoulder, his fingers carding through Bones' hair, scratching lazily at his scalp as he felt that warm breath against his neck. He felt enveloped, like the two of them were in their own little world where nothing else intruded, just the solid warmth of Bones' body atop his, and Jim smiled, nuzzling against Bones' temple. "Did you?" he asked, remembering how they had fallen asleep last night, still tangled together after Bones had worked his way back to Jim's mouth, leaving soft, tender kisses along the way.
