I'm going back to the start (Jim and Leonard)

It had been an amazing year.

The five year mission had been given to Jim and the Enterprise. Well deserved, most people thought, after word spread about what Jim had done. The Enterprise had been a fairly new ship, but a five year mission required additional time in Spacedock, updates and upgrades and refits - even Sickbay received new equipment, ( Read more... )

"Everything's good," Jim assured him with a hint of a smile. He leaned against the open door frame, his arms crossed comfortably in front of him, but his eyes betrayed a little of his concern. "Alpha ended about an hour ago. Thought I'd swing by, see if I could interest you in dinner ( ... )

"Dinner, hmm," Leonard tapped at his computer, swiping the screen to close it.. Jim approached, that swagger that he seemed to develop whenever he stepped on board a ship. Probably didn't even know he did it, but Leonard saw it, everyone saw it.

The man was born to do this job. "Done here then," he said, standing up slowly, one arm winding around Jim, just enough to pull him close for a quick nuzzle. Jim's hand came to rest on Bones' side as he smiled at him, surprised at the display of affection in the office. They'd talked about that, about being professional, and while nobody was within view of the office door he knew that they could be interrupted at any time. Still, he couldn't resist pressing a soft, quick kiss to the corner of Bones' mouth. "You wouldn't settle for anything less. I know that," Jim said, shifting to his feet, close enough to feel Bones' body heat as he moved off the desk.

Home sweet home. Jim loved the sound of that, and he knew now that it meant the same to both of them. He squeezed Bones' shoulder as they started toward the door. "You've given me enough," he said with a warm smile, then shook his head. "Besides, I just wanted to do this. Don't want you feeling bad about it. Quite the contrary." Jim had his plans laid out, the bottle of Maker's and the steak dinner, just for starters. All things that would make Bones feel more at home.

Leonard grumbled at the kiss, but he inside he loved it, loved knowing that Jim had no qualms about letting people know that they were a couple. They loved each other, and it wasn't a secret ( ... )
