They are. I adore them, even if I don't have Wing's gift for talking with them. Have you never fed birds before? Perhaps you could come over to my garden some time. They are always happy to have someone to play with and sing to.
I haven't.... [He smiles a little as they hop about.] Your friend can talk to them? Like people?
I don't think I could... I'm not really allowed to go out. [He's probably going to get in trouble for today, but he doesn't really know how he got out here.] But thank you for the offer.
I believe so. But I'm not sure that birds always talk the same way people do. I promise to ask Wing the next time I see him.
[Tamas kneels, still supporting Tim's arm so he can look the boy in the eye.] Tim, listen to me. You're safe, you're away from the people who kept you inside. Your mother can't hurt you here. It's okay. [He squeezes Tim's hand softly.] You can come to the garden now if you like? I promise you won't be in trouble.
All things talk in their own way, [Tamas smiles, playing with a butterfly at lands in his hand.] Even the plants and trees.
[Tamas whistles and sends the birds up into the trees so he can hold Tim's attention.] You have been brought to a place of magic and protection. You are safe here. You can do what you like and go where you wish.
[Tamas laughs warmly.] The old trees, maybe. But most plants sing. They sing about the sun and the moon and the earth and the rain. They sing slow, long songs about the changing of the seasons and fast, dancing songs about the flowers chasing the sun. [He turns his own face up to the sun, giving off waves of joy and happiness.] I wish you could hear them like I do. It's the most beautiful thing!
She won't find you here. You won't be in trouble. The magic here will protect you and so will I.
It seems like it must be a very beautiful sound...
But... You'd be hurt. [He frowns deeply and shakes his head.] You don't... know me. My mother... I'm hers. Sometimes I'm bad, so I'm punished but I'm hers... She finds me... every time.
I won't be hurt. You just have to trust me on that. I can be very powerful too when I need to be. And I have a gift for seeing the truth of people's hearts so I know you're a good and kind person, despite your mother. You are safe here, Tim. I swear.
I get in trouble a lot... t-taking care of things is my job, I do it wrong all the time... [He isn't sure what to think, but he's been told he's bad so often he's sure of that, so he shakes his head.] I'm not worth it...
[Tamas kneels up and presses a hand over Tim's heart.] You are worth it. [He shares with Tim a sense of all the love and joy Tim has brought to the Pack, all the hope and happiness.] You may forget this for a time, or believe it was just a dream but I want you to hold onto this - you are worth all the love in the world.
Love... [He murmurs uncertainly and wraps his arms around himself trying to stay steady as he lets the feeling wash over him.] I didn't know it felt like that...
[Giggling and filling the air with flowers.]

[He blushes and averts his eyes at the eye contact, and shivers a little.] I... I don't understand...

I... I'm not supposed to. I'll get in trouble. My mother always finds me and I'll get in trouble...
