Moddish Update: 1 Month Community Anniversary; DCU Free For All February Challenge
Greetings, all!! :D
I can hardly believe I breezed by the 1 month mark from the opening of the Free For All without realizing it! I am so proud of the way this community has blossomed in just a month. Community membership has grown to 66 people, with 76 watching, and in that one month, we've had 44 challenge claims made, and 2 already completed!! ^_^ A wealth of graphics has been produced (more or less exclusively) for the community, including icons and promotion banners, by the lovely red_handed (who is also whipping up some *awesome* completion banners), vespertila (with her Chibis series), and labuenaventura (with her Batman and Robins series). To date, there have been 16 art posts to the community, and a *whopping* 104 fic posts, many with multiple fics!
We've also had several outside challenges posted for promotion. If you have the opportunity, swing by bradygirl_12's LJ to check out or participate in her Chocolate Challenge or her Valentine's Day Challenge, wonderwomanlove to check out the Calendar Challenge for February, or merfilly's LJ to check out the Women Calling the Shots Challenge.
Now I'd like to thank everyone who's been tagging their entries with the proper tags. So far I've only had to edit the tags on a few entries, so it looks like my system is working! Hurrah! For those of you that have only been using your personalized claim tag, I just want to remind you to please also tag your entries with either "fic" or "art" or both, depending on what you post. Thanks again!!
As far as DCU fandom participation goes, unfortunately, there hasn't been much participation from some of the non-comics corners of the fandom yet, namely: Smallville, Lois and Clark, and Movieverse DCU, all of which have a big draw in other corners of the internet. I'd like to invite anyone reading this post to pimp out the community wherever they can. All are welcome!!
Finally, I'd like to issue a small challenge of my own, a first for the DCU Free For All community!
In commemoration the 1 month anniversary of the community going live, here comes the DCU Free For All February Challenge! Anyone who wants to participate is welcome, regardless of whether you have a primary challenge claim for the community. All pairings/characters, ratings, and genres are welcome. The challenge is this: Write fic of at least 100 words (or make graphics) for one of the following prompts from the Free For All prompt tables:
1. T05; P05: Pink Kryptonite
2. T07; P02: Partnership
3. T08; P04: Soar
4. T10; P11: Enchanted
5. T14; P01: Sex Pollen
Alternately, you can use any prompt from Tables 11 and 13, because it is, after all, Valentine's month. ^_~ When you post, the same rules apply to regular challenge posts. Tag with "fic" or "art" or both, and use the challenge tag: community challenge: february.
The challenge runs until midnight, EST, on Friday, February 29th, and anyone who participates will get a nifty little participation banner (which *I* will do my darnedest to whip up *myself*!). :D And heck, if you want, I encourage anyone participating to include your submission(s) to count towards your regular claimed challenges!
I don't know if I'll be issuing challenges on any kind of a regular basis, but the potential is there, so I hope this one works out. Who knows, with the spirit of the Free For All, we might just end up with monthly challenges, or even regular holiday themed challenges!
