The stigma is there but it's there for most engineering.
I think it's a study that needs to be looked into more. This one is pretty good.
I think the article you said earlier rings true, "a lot of the girls who were doing computer science came from families of computer scientists and engineers."
It boils down to things like parenting and role models. If girls can see women succeeding in these fields and they are being encouraged to pursue technical fields, it'll happen.
Like, at Mac, there seems to be more girls in other engineering disciplines but I don't know it can be easily explained. Maybe the other fields are more developed and known in general. I mean, I think Eng Phys is probably having the same problems as Software.
Anyway, lots of different ideas, lots of rambling possible so I'll just stop right now, haha.
