Summary - It must have been fate; it couldn’t be anything else.
Jin didn’t even remember how it all came to this. Maybe some kind of fate had lead him to just that certain park, in that certain day, at the certain time. It was kind of funny when he thought about it later; Jin didn’t really believe that kind of thinks like destiny or love at first sight, but now he had to admit that maybe he had been wrong all along.
It must have been fate; it couldn’t be anything else, ‘cause at the very first time when he saw Kame sitting at park bench, he felt as if his heart would have stopped and left one heartbeat between. It was that wired feeling like a long-lost piece would have found its way back into place and suddenly everything else seemed like a matter of indifference.
He never really planned to derogate from the park road or head towards the bench - his legs carried him out there on their own, before Jin could even comprehend. And there he was now, standing beside the same bench which right side were sitting that beautiful, dark-haired young man.
“Oh, Hi…? Can I sit here?”
“Go ahead; it’s not taken if that’s what you think.”
“Okay, thanks.”
Why did the young man stare at him that odd expression on his face?
“Um… You’re sitting on my jacket”, dark-haired remarked, smiling beautifully. It took a while before Jin even realized to react on another man’s words.
“What? Oh sorry, I didn’t notice it! There you go”, Jin half cried, leaped up from the bench as the lightning struck him and handed the jacket to its owner.
Silence fell between them for a while until Jin was no longer able to keep his mouth shut.
“Hey, is that George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four? I planned to read that too! Or actually, I wasn’t so sure of it before, but if you’re reading it and you - correct me if I’m wrong - seemed to like it, then it had to be good.”
The sentence was obviously full of shit; Jin had never been a great friend of books or reading, but for God’s sake, he had to say something!
“What a sharp observation. Your eyes don’t seem to lie”, Kame answered. Something about Jin’s sentence seemed to amuse him - although he didn’t turn his eyes away from the book, Jin could see the grin on his lips. Or maybe Jin was the amusing one, who knows.
“What’s so funny?”
He had to ask, or otherwise it would have remained to haunt him forever.
“Nothing special, I’m not even laughing.”
“Not yet, but I see you’re amused.”
“True.”
“Why?”
“Does it always have to have a reason?”
“Uhm… No, but… It just…”
What the hell, Jin didn’t even know. There he was, sitting in park bench and arguing about what was funny and what was not, with a guy he had just met.
And that might have been the first time, but certainly not the last.
During the last month, Jin walked through that same park every day, and always Kame was there, reading that same old book like it never ends. Although the other man seemed to think Jin didn’t notice, he was able to see that the bookmarks location wasn’t changed at all - their everyday chat was more way interesting than reading. This small detail always led him to smile, even now, when autumn came and they no longer sat on that park bench, but rather enjoyed watching movies at Jin’s apartment.
Or they might have enjoyed if they would not have been so urgent with all the kissing.
