[when Edgeworth opened the door of his office, he hadn't expected to walk into anything other than his office. the possibility of walking through the door and into a tropical jungle was even further from his mind

[the probability that the community is involved occurs to Edgeworth just moments before the woman's presence confirms it. he bites back on a sigh and nods towards her.] Ms. Landy.
[he turns his attention to the landscape again, scowling, and tightens his grip on his (also classified, though considerably less so) papers.]
[ After a pause, it's surprisingly difficult to find her voice. ] Mr. Edgeworth. [ Shifts her grip on the folder to ensure that only the fact that it's a manilla folder is clear. ]
...I didn't think the community abducted people from their offices.
If there's a location the community won't violate, I have yet to hear of it.
[the folder has been noted, but idle speculation on its contents is mostly discarded. the environment is a far more immediate concern; the quiet of the forest is almost eerie. brow furrowed, he scans the edges of the clearing, listening intently for signs of another human presence.]
Unfortunately, there's not much to see down in the depths of the jungle like this, but the observant may note that the ground is sloping noticeably in one direction. Up and down are both viable options to travel, although it may be wise to try and find a tree to climb for a look around before choosing.]
[Finishing up his tea, for lack of anything better to do. Avoids watching Webb struggle up the tree, as the sight prompts both memories and an uncomfortable twist of fear in his stomach.]
[Get high enough in the tree, and a panorama of the island comes into view. Upslope, there's little more than forest dwindling to bare rock. The forest also thins downslope, fading into a grassy plain.
There's life out there on the grass, creatures moving around, though it may be difficult to make out exactly what they are. There's also evidence of a human hand shaping the landscape--those lines crossing the grass might be roads, or possibly fences. From here, it's difficult to make out exactly what.]
[There's a chittering the bushes that seems to be following them downhill. It could be a curious bird--or curious flock of birds, as it doesn't sound like one animal--except that these birds are pretty close to the ground.
They seem to be mostly staying under cover, but there are occasionally flashes of critter in the underbrush. They're...small. And scaly. And look closer to lizards than birds, really, even if that's what they sound like.]
[The sounds are unnerving; that they're following the party is even more so. Edgeworth keeps hesitating as he walks, struggling to catch glimpses of them, and with the first good look he finally gets at them, he stops. The creatures are difficult to make out as they dart through the plants, but there's something familiar about them, and from what he can make out they're not anything he's ever encountered.]
[Ema is having a scientific breakdown over here, and she all but squeals as she rushes over to the little flying birds. That aren't birds. More like lizards. It--she's really in awe here, folks, and she starts sketching them as quickly as possible. Except she's not very good at drawing, so the models are off. She doesn't quite know what they are, but she doesn't mind!]
[Edgeworth takes a step towards the girl. The more the tiny heads and bodies continue to peek out from under the brush, the stronger the nagging at the back of his mind gets.]
[The flock of Compsognathus follows the group as they move, twittering and chirping and inching progressively closer. It doesn't take long for the tiny creatures to go bold, some darting in from the sides and from behind while others dart across the path the group seems to be following.
Close enough, perhaps, to try to take a bite out of an ankle or calf, if there's one available.]
[The little dinosaurs are starting to really creep her out, but they look harmless from here. Well, mostly harmless. They're small, they can't be too bad, right? They aren't raptors, that's for sure. But they don't seem so bad, and even as she's trying to keep up with the group, she keeps slowing down a little to look at them. Even if they are really creepy, she's never seen a dinosaur before, and probably won't again.]
[Whatever enthusiasm for the creatures may have lingered from Edgeworth's childhood is currently being overridden by the growing sense of dread their dogged pursuit has inspired. He stumbles, nearly falling as one of the creatures slams into his foot; the dinosaur is rewarded with an impromptu flight into the brush as Edgeworth (accidentally) kicks it.]
[hisses] Damn!
[He looks around as he regains his footing and sees Ema is falling behind. with a note of command in his voice:] Miss Skye.
[ David is considering kicking one of them deliberately, to see if it sends a message. There are far to many of the creatures too close for comfort, if they swarmed... But they haven't really tried anything yet.
But if they do, it seems most likely that Ema will be the target, if she keeps hanging back like that. David glances back with concern. ]

...With a folder of CIA documents. Classified at level three security clearance.
At least she was wearing sensible flats with her suit.
And now she sees Edgeworth. ...This must be that community's fault. ]

It turns into a field downhill. There are some animals of some kind down there, and I think I saw fences. Maybe a road. Nothing much uphill.
