The Cold Reality of My Age Finally Hits Home

Sep 13, 2007 11:37

Though it's been nearly a month since my birthday, last night was the first time I actually gave my age much thought. Someone asked me how old I was, and the response "I'm 26" stopped halfway out of my mouth. "Wait," I said. "Let me think about it ( Read more... )

just wait until "i'm 30" pops out of your mouth for the first time... it's quite a shocker. but after the shock wears off, you realize age is just a number. now i seriously have to think (read: do some math in my head) when people ask my age.

Be very grateful for your baby face, Dev! :)

I am. I just hope I don't end up with one of those creepy, old-looking baby faces. Y'know, round, cherub-esque, big eyes, and covered in thin lines and wrinkles. Eeegh.

I think so, but not in the way we imagine it to be. Within our lifetime, I think we may be able to achieve glorified life support, where one can be kept alive, and perhaps aware, but likely still bed ridden and otherwise handicapped.

I just find myself comparing my age to the age of people I admire who had already done amazing things at this point.

"Gah! Trent put out Pretty Hate Machine when he was just 23 years old! By 26 he'd put out Broken! Fuccckkk."

"Gah! David Gordon Green had already made his first masterpiece - George Washington - when he was 25! I'm so behind!"

I tried saying "I'm 44", and for some reason I felt like a bad-ass. Maybe because I feel so young and spry for a 44 year-old. But jeez, can you imagine the day?
