We went to see the new science fiction movie "Children of Men" last night. It is an example of what I think really good science fiction is. It is about the effects of a technology or problem on humanity. Children of Men starts with the premise of that in 2009 all women of the world suddenly became infertile. No more babies at all. I really like distopia movies, so, hopefully, when my work calms down, I'll be seeing Children of Men, too.
The trailers sort of remind my of A Handmaid's Tale in some ways.

Lot of Colts fans in the house... but I may have to go with the Bears, since they haven't been in a long time.

What makes me nervous is that it seems a lot of commentators are already giving the game to the Colts. Teams who play that "lack of respect" card can be dangerous. I think that the Colts' defense started playing better in part because of this. What gives me hope though is the transformation of Indianapolis from a finesse dome team to a "real" football team. The three playoff wins have shown a depth of team character that I haven't seen before.
