I read about these coins a couple weeks ago, apparently the mints are trying again to encourage the use of the dollar coin over the bill which would save them a lot of money if the bill were taken out of circulation. Unfortunately this will probably never happen with America's stubborn refusal to catch up to the rest of the world.(Imperial system???)
