Let's make
from
this.
A really simple tutorial. But it looks pretty cool when you're done.
I use Photoshop Elements 4.0, but I'm %99 positive it can be done in other programs.
Image heavy.
Alright, find a nice black and white manga image. Crop and clean it, all that jazz. That'll be your base.
Now open up a new 100x100 document (Make sure it's set to RGB color mode!). Paste in a base texture, not your base. I chose
this (by ???. Tell me if you know!).
I thought that pink didn't quite match the character, so I desaturated it.
Now we're going to paste in our base. Set that to "Multiply, %100".
That's WAY too crowded to work with, so simply toggle the visibility on the base texture.
Much better.
Now on to coloring! The base is already set to multiply, so simply color on layers under that. I use induvidual layers for each color.
Once it's colored, toggle the visibility of that base.
Once agian, it's really ugly and busy. So select your base texture layer, and erase the parts that need erasing. For me, it ended up looking like
this. If it helps, lower the opacity of the texture when erasing so you can see the lines of the base image easier. Just remember to bring the opacity back up!
And that's it!
