I've been enjoying a lot of good stories recently. First up, the Welcome to Night Vale podcast, recc'ed by Sabriel75. It's wonderfully weird and reminds me very much of NPR radio dramas we used to listen to. People say it's very much HP Lovecraft, but ya know, I've never actually read any Lovecraft. Am I the only one? It always seems like everyone

Are you saying that Paulie is too serious an actor for this part? ;-)

I guess I'm not invested enough in Trek mythology to dislike a movie like this. It surprises me sometimes how rigid people are with their fandoms.

I never read any HP Lovecraft either but have heard enough about him from my friends that I know basically what his stories are like.

I have a friend who has made it very clear just how much she hates (and that is putting it mildly) the new Star Trek movies. Oh well, I really like them especially Karl Urban as McCoy & Chris Pine as Kirk. As much as I like Simon Pegg, I don't really care for his Scotty.

Yeah, I just didn't click with Scotty the way I did with Kirk and Spock and the others. Is your friend a big Trekkie? What does she not like about it?

My friend is quite the old school Trekkie. She doesn't have a lot of Love for J.J Abrams.
