As much as I'd like to post about what I've been reading and watching lately, I want to get this down before I forget.
Last week I only went to the box once, as I spent Wed-Fri nights coaching at Upward Flag Football Camp (more about that later, hopefully). Tuesday night was Endurance class and here was the workout:
21-18-15-12-9-6-3 Box Jumps Wallballs 400m Run
That means you do 21 box jumps, 21 wall balls (a squat and then throw a weighted ball up), then run 400m; do 18 jumps, 18 wall balls, run 400m, etc. I made the apparently huge mistake of eating some grapes about 4:30 (class at 5:30). It was hot, and I crashed and burned. I got so pukey feeling I had to walk mostly and stand around a lot. The coach made me skip the whole round of 12's and I still finished dead last (even behind the other woman she made skip the 12's round). It was ugly. But the 3 of us had a nice discussion afterwards about timing and what to eat.
Wednesday I hit class in the morning as I had to work late. It was kind of schizo - my reactions were along the lines of
- 400m run warmup - "Wheee!!! I'm running and breathing at the same time!"
- Other warmup movt's (high knees, etc) - "I'm tired and I hate this! Why am I here?"
- Some practice on pull-up type movts - "I'm not exactly doing it, but hey, I can tell I'm making *some* progress."
- Deadlifts 5x5 (lift 5 times, add more weight, 5 more, etc) - "I did one lift at 135# the first time ever in Feb, now I'm doing 5!"
- Then the main WOD - I did it *almost* as listed (Rx, we call it)!!! The only diff was I used a 26# kettlebell instead of a 35#. And I felt great afterwards! yay!
Last night was Endurance again, and it was lots of running again. I did a lot better than last week (didn't eat beforehand!).
1200m Run. 2m Rest. 1200m Run. 2m Rest. 800m Run. 90s Rest. 800m Run. 90s Rest. 600m Run. 1m Rest. 600m Run.
That comes out to 5200m (just a bit more than a 5K). Subtracting my rest times, I got 36:40. Not great, but I was happy with it. I wasn't miserable and 2 people finished behind me (one of them was pregnant, but oh well).
So today I'm sore (back and hamstrings from Wed, hamstrings and calves from last night), but feeling great! Hooray!
