I have a kitty, not really a kitty, but I regard her as a kitty, mostly because whenever I talk to anyone about her I say 'my kitty'. Her name is Piper. She's a stray. For reasons unknown she chose me last September

Aww I'm so sorry :(

I had a kitten that had it when I was a kid. Even after a long treatment and going into remission, she still passed away from it when she was very young. Don't beat yourself up about Piper, there really wasn't much you could have done. You may have put her on an expensive treatment and still had this happen. Feline leukemia sucks.

The vet said the same thing in regards to treatment; Piper is at the stage that even if she'd been on the treatment this is the time she (the vet) said she'd suggest putting her to sleep.

Thank you though. I've had a couple of friends phone me about having to go through this too. It's not an easy decision but I'm enjoying my time with her in the meantime. With the pain medication she seems a bit more aware and not as out of it as she'd been.
