Thanks to everyone who sent messages of support and hugs.

I made it up to see my grandmother in time on Monday, as did my grandmother's brother and son - she fought hard to hold on until we were all there. The last of us arrived just after 4pm and she passed away peacefully at 4:35, surrounded by family which is how she would have wanted it. I am absolutely certain she knew who we were and understood what we were saying to her most of the time. She was dosed up on morphine and wasn't in pain, but every breath was a struggle for her and in the end we let her know that she didn't have to keep fighting anymore.

I never really realised until Monday just how strong a woman my grandmother was. She will be sorely missed by many people.

Since then I've spent a lot of time with my mother and grandfather, doing my best to help and support them. I've heard many stories from my grandfather, I've met a few relatives who I hadn't seen in years, as well as a few of her close friends.
I've also had a chance to see insomnius and danman80, whose internet I am currently stealing.

Anyway, the funeral will be held on Monday afternoon, and I will be returning to Melbourne on Monday night. I have to say, I'll be glad to get back - I've never been as homesick in my life before as I have been the last few days, and it's all been quite exhausting.

'night all.
