That sucks. My leg still swells like crazy with residual inflammation from the soft tissue damage (apparently permanent) cellulitis did to me 4 years ago, and I can't do anything for it but wear compression socks. In my case, they ran a pick line and sent me home after 4 days with another 2 weeks of IV Zosyn rather that keep me in the hospital. I still had . Anyway, in short, I can sympathize -- I know what you're going through.
that is what I am on - the IV Zosyn. Last time I had it, the just gave me cipro, and away it went. The bacteria in this instance was much more aggressive. Dr Z admitted today that he was really scared with the speed this came on and spread, if we had waited just 12 hours to come in, it could have turned to sepsis...but we are past that now. the antibiotics are taking hold and doing their thing.
I'm at Stonewall Jackson in Lexington. Not as nice as AMC, but Amy and Ed work here =).
Zosyn is kinda nice because it's sort of an antibiotic cocktail, though the pieces are all (IIRC) derived from penicillin. Cipro's usually regarded as a drug of last resort, I think because of the increased tendonitis/tendon rupture risk (don't hold me to that, though.)
If you were in AMC, I'd try to stop by -- T is moving in with Mendollyn, so we're making bunches of trips back and forth to Waynesboro at the moment. Lexington is a bit far afield, though, so I will settle for wishing you get well quickly.
