My father often said it was good to be the Baron, for the most part I concur. However, it isn't all wining and dining... I still need to speak to the Royal Treasury about tax concessions for such things. Hmm... I'm not even certain who's in charge there at present. I suppose I should visit and find out. It will allow me the opportunity to seek out the Regent of Weirmonken as well, about time we negotiated a contract or two. I appear to have this surplus of supplies and after discussing Silverspire with some of the Ladies of the Weir, I believe that's an untapped market to be exploited explored.
I have sent Carruthers to speak with Lord Cyrus of House Chantris to open discussions about the building of a ship. I would have pursued such with another but have discovered him absent from Amber. I do trust he is well, his mother is dear to me even if she has taken up residence with a bloody royal princeling. What could she have been thinking? What's done is done, damn her and that bloody oath she had me swear. Where was I? Yes, a ship. I have been assured that it will be a fine ship and I trust that the lady and her House find reason to admire it and put it to good use. Karm's Blush, a magnificent name for a ship, but then again that is only my opinion and hardly humble at that.
Speaking of magnificent things, I still lack a hammock. I've a good mind to send a debt collector or two for sport. However, I do still hope to enjoy dinner in the Solarium, so shall send myself when time permits. It will give me a chance to make the proper acquaintance of Lord Gilgamesh Karm. The man looked in serious need of a hearty breakfast, a hearty wine and not a hearty lass. There was one of those already at his bedside. Apparently a lady from my mother's house. Damn. That reminds me, I should visit and see how dear old mother is doing. She's probably still bloody crazy just fine.
Now I must tend to more paperwork. I think I've found just what my lovely Cousin's require in the way of a homestead. Such a well matched pair and the perks! Oh to have more cousins like these two, except I fear I would forget about business and drink myself into a permanent stupor in celebration with them. Such things are to be avoided, I'm just grateful that Lady Faelin was most gracious in extending her hospitality. I must send a gift to thank her and I have the perfect one in mind but first I must see to a trade contract with the Weir. Must not let their Regent know how little I know of their culture though, can't afford anything to arise and interfere in good business.
