Gabriel hadn't been specific or particular when he agreed to some food with Deacon. Which was fine, since that gave Deacon the freedom to get whatever he fancied at that particular moment. His craving for Thai food had overtaken him, and he'd gotten two Pad Thai dishes, one with chicken and one with shrimp. He figured he'd at least let Gabriel ( Read more... )

Gabriel had always been one to eat whatever was put in front of him. He had learned that early in his life that he should be grateful he had food at all, and that it was rude to fuss and be picky, and therefore he ate everything. The only thing that he was iffy about was sushi because it was raw, but if Deacon brought that along with him he would eat it just to be polite ( ... )

He smiled brightly, letting out a laugh at seeing his reaction. Absolutely perfect. He held up the bag of food and held out his other arm for a friendly sort of hug.

"Hello to you, as well! Sorry - I couldn't resist doing the shoulder tap bit. I'm.. a bit of a prankster, so every opportunity I get, even to do something small, I have to take it." He laughed, giving a light-hearted shrug.

"That was not funny, Deacon, not funny at all," Gabriel grumbled, though it was obvious that he was struggling not to laugh, as he had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep from doing so. He looked at the bag and then sniffed the air, a soft groan passing his lips as the smell hit his nose, it smelled delicious, after all.

"Come on, through here," he said, getting up and leading the way to the small back room where he normally ate his lunches, and he left the box on his work table. He quickly cleared the table off of the days paper and a book, gesturing to him that he could take a seat.

"Right, a prankster, great," he laughed softly, and then looked around, wrinkling his nose. "Did you bring anything to drink? Or, I might have something."

"Yes it was. You know that you laughed on the inside, Gabriel," he responded matter-of-factly. He nodded, following him to the back room. He glanced around and then placed the bag of food on the now clear table. He caught a whiff of the Pad Thai and his stomach resounded with a loud growl. Giving it a light rub, he laughed. "I suppose I'm hungrier than I thought."

He looked to him with a shake of his head. Opening the bag, he pulled out two beers. It might have been in the afternoon, but Deacon never needed an excuse to have a drink. He then held up a finger and, from the messenger bag slung across his shoulder, pulled out a bottle of Plum Wine, then two glasses. Followed by two bottles of water.

"Wasn't quite sure which you preferred, so I thought I'd bring a variety."
