i dont know how i can get a rant this large out without some lube and a spoon.
i dont even know where to start, as i'll complain mightily and probly continue watching, just to see what bs they come up with next.
the second season bit hard, but i racked that up to the writers strike. i was wrong. apparently the full season would have been a lot of Maya sicking her sick on Odessa. but that didnt happen. i think it may be easier just to complain character by character.
peter: well, theres a crappy future to head off, AGAIN. peter is a horrible time traveler. instead of pulling his bro aside and saying, hey, future peter here, dont have that press conference, it jacks up everything, he just shoots nathan.
angela: doesnt know what the butterfly effect is. thats where a butterfly flaps his wings and causes a tsunami across the globe from the slight change in wind currents. angela is either referencing the bradbury story or an ashton kutcher movie.
nathan: nathan heals miraculously, AGAIN. becomes a religious nut, finds out it wasnt god who healed him but an old dead droog, and STAYS a religious nut.
mohinder: worst actor on the show? i dunno, competition is fierce. isnt it obvious that his power is to do months of genetics research in twenty minutes? also, when you add a line of dialogue or a visual clue from another source, its a nod. when you basically reshoot 10 minutes of the fly, it is no longer a nod.
claire: i got a second super power, i feel no pain. that must mean... i... dont have a soul? am i right? im going to go with that, its a new thing to be angsty about.
hiro: oh god, hiro. hiro refuses to travel to the past again, ever. because it screws things up. he knows this isnt true, because he's met his FUTURE SELF. eventually he's going to break that rule. but losing the half of the formula that, AGAIN, could destroy the world, thats not a big enough deal to break that rule one last time and tell himself not to open the safe.
also, hiro travels to the future, AGAIN, to see how things are going, finds out the same special effects from season 1 are being reused on tokyo, AGAI..ok, im tired of that now. and with a little bit of luck, it turns out future hiro and ando are fighting a few feet away. hey, there you are!
also, TIME FREEZE BEATS SUPER SPEED! nuff said. the writers arent smart enough to write time travel or super powers. yes, that includes you, loeb.
im quitting there, but stupidity was rampant. i liked hiro's lil story for the tone, ando's hadoken, it was fun. but i just have to accept that this show is melrose place with super powers, and thats the trick to enjoying it.
