The plane touched down at McCarran International Airport just after 5 a.m.

Logan had taken a the first available red-eye out of LAX mostly because he was afraid he'd miss Trina's 'marriage' altogether. She was probably already working on an anullment, and he couldn't stand to miss the opportunity to rib her - and to possibly take another swipe at Chad. It was a remote possibility, but one he woudl relish.

An even remoter possibility was that Trina might be glad to see him. After all, last night's phone call was the first time he'd spoken to her since the funeral, and it hadn't been what one would call conducive to mending their relationship ( ... )

It's the sixth inning, and the Cardinals are down by three; the fans roar in disappointment as the man at bat misses another swing, Chad along with them.

It takes him a few moments, therefore, to hear the knocking; once he does, he swings himself hastily out of the chair and goes to pull the door open, calling out as he goes.

"Trina, coffee's -"

Logan grins and shoves the tray at him. "Here," he finishes. "Hi, bro. How's it hanging?"

Chad catches the tray automatically, still staring.

It takes a moment for him to rally, but rally he does, putting on a bright smile.

It could have been worse, he's thinking. It could have been the paparazzi.

(Little does Chad know.)

"Good to see you, kid - uh, do you want to come in?"
