Despite the major oversight with the water ways, spill ways, and sewer tunnels, the borders of the city have been secured quite nicely. I admire the barricade my men have set up as we reach the outer perimeter in the jeep. After leaving Sam and the others behind to pull a rescue mission on the unidentified civilians in Quadrant Four, my tour back ( Read more... )

No flights in or out of Michigan, a fifteen hour flight from Rome with my sister and a car ride in which the entire population of the United States seemed to be heading out of the damned city and I was holding up quite well, actually.

No fatalities on the Buffy driving front. I'd managed not to kill my sister in the spending-way-too-much-time-in-a-confined-space with her and I'd even managed to get some sleep on the plane while Dawn was watching some movie, thankfully not Chevy Chase.

"You know, to fight the zombies we actually have to get there in one piece, want me to drive?"

"I've experienced your driving before, Dawnie," I told her, resisting the urge to do something too affectionate and, like, ruffle her hair or something, "Believe me, it's not something I'll be repeating."

Okay, so her driving wasn't that bad. It wasn't like she tried to crash every time she got in the car. But then again neither was mine. Fine, once upon a time cars and Buffy were unmixy things but-- I wasn't so bad these days ( ... )

"Hey, Riley." I kind of wave and smile. I was never a big Riley fan, I preferred Angel, and the way Riley took off, that just wasn't cool. But if Buffy was okay, then I was okay. So it was okay all around. I hope.

I cross my arms and look around. No zombies in sight. Were they like vampires, as in they don't like the sunlight? How do you kill them? It was probably totally messy. All of a sudden I missed vampires, they were easy and they turned into dust. No goo on your clothes or anything.

"Ready to help, yeah, but could we like, eat something first? Buffy driving from the airport after a really freaking long flight kinda makes you want to sit and be not moving for a while."

I shift my gaze from Buffy to Dawn, and crack a small smile. No matter how old she got, I still couldn't envision her as much more than the kid sis. It's something that I felt kind of bad about at times, but really didn't let it phase me. After all, Dawn's behaviour was what facilitated such a reaction, so it's not like I could help it ( ... )

"My driving's not that bad," I told Dawn with a half-scowl, wondering how come my reputation as being non-mixy with cars had survived Sunnydale being craterised. It wasn't like it was that bad...

"Yeah, we can get you some food. It might be wise. I myself haven't done much eating since we got here...partially from stress, partially from the fact that some of the things I saw inside made me really not have much of an appetite."Part of me wanted to ask if it was really that bad but judging by the reports on TV and the stress I'd heard in Riley's voice when he called me stopped me from asking. He wouldn't have called if he hadn't thought it was serious ( ... )
