do you think that people who love bruce springsteen also love bob dylan? do you think diehard bob dylan fans would admit to loving bruce springsteen? as for me, well, i'm proud to say i love 'em both!

molly, that has nothing to do with the question at hand. bruce being the "new dylan" is the reason why i posed the question to begin with. see, for me, i grew up with bruce and then when i got older i heard all this talk about bruce being like bob dylan and i was like who is this bob dylan character? i should really check him out. and then, well you know the rest. to me, it just seems so obvious that if you like one, then you will like the other. either bc you will listen to bruce and then find bob, like i did, or you will be a dylan fan and hear talk about how springsteen is the new dylan and then you'd be like okay, let's check this kid out and see what all the fuss is about. i mean, you are bound to run into one of you listen to the other. however, i know a lot of people who don't listen to both, and it bothers me. of course you can choose favorites, but c'mon, while bruce is no bob, they both bring something great to the table. and plus, bruce is way sexier. haha. but yeah, i think a bruce fan would be more willing to check out ( ... )

ok, here's the deal: i always thought it was stupid that bruce springsteen was referred to as new dylan simply because they are completely different types of songwriters. dylan is much more abstract, usually with an onmniscient narrator, while springsteen's 'i,' 'we,' or '[subject]' narration is usually the driving force within his songs. that's why you'll get a lot of far too cerebral dylan fans and a lot of springsteen fans who rely on surface meaning when it comes to his lyrics. of course, the genius of bruce springsteen is that he is entirely accessible to all people because he doesn't deal with dylan's complicated metaphors and even if listeners only deem surface meaning pertinent, then that's all the song needs to mean to them. i don't know what the whole point of that thing was but it's true.

this has nothing to do with bob and bruce: on sunday im pretty sure (as long as it isnt raining when we go to leave) that paul and i will be heading to the 'sex to move in the bigger stuff like the loveseat/tables/tv/microwave and what not. so next time you go, it will be sort of furnished! also, we might need to rethink our whole layout b/c we need to consider plug/cable outlet placements and all that which i never even thought of until i was telling my dad how we were gonna arrange the room and he brought it up.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. maybe you don't like him, but a BAFOON?!?!?!?! maybe he dances like one in the dancing in the dark video, but that's about it. bruce is amazing! (i seriously just took offense to that comment).
