Heh. Felix is being so puppylike at the beginning of this chapter. And now Oscar is bringing Felix home to meet his parents. Heh. So cute.

...Though now I'm trying to picture Portia's family, and failing. That, or scaring myself.

beautiful chapter, and I love the awkwardness about bringing Felix home to meet the parents. Two nitpicks, though.

Japanese men, even Japanese men who studied in the US (and he would have had to have studied in the US to speak flawless English) do not shout. Ever. Unless they are drunk or very very lower class. Seeing the Japanese real estate agent shouting and saying things "tersely" was a teensy bit jarring. And Japan is 13 ahead of the east coast during daylight savings time, 14 ahead in the winter. Though Oscar looked like he was just guessing about the time change, so that's an even smaller nitpick.

Ummm, well, on the one hand, that may be a mainly true generalisation, but on the other, we are specifically trying to break stereotype -- I mean, it seems comparable to saying all British are emotionally repressed. It may be mostly true, but I like to think that such sweeping statements don't generally apply. (also, there's the noises in the background to consider. Kitchen garbage disposal going off, Portia banging on the door, et al.)

As for the hours thing, yeah, Oscar's intentionally wrong there :D I (sam) looked up the time difference before writing it. Do give us SOME credit *grins*
