A Law Divine = beautiful like the rose windowwhitsunDecember 1 2004, 11:52:54 UTC
I love how Felix and Oscar are spiraling around and towards each other. And just like Felix, I'd like to see Oscar's and Portia's relationship - not defined, really, but I'd like to know how they each see it when they're not pretending it's just habit that they stay together.
And this chapter kinda answered a question I had, but I still wonder - does the Catholic Church still have property like that in England? A lot of land was confiscated by Cromwell under Henry VIII, and Catholics persecuted enough that I would have thought building a serious church like this one would have been hard around 1540. Do you have a place in mind? This is not criticism but curiosity from one who doesn't know that much about British history. In any case it doesn't affect how much I'm loving A Law Divine. Also how madly impressed I am with the speed of posting.

Well, the Catholic Church still /exists/ in England. I would imagine it did have old ruins it would like to sell.
The date I (Sam) gave was mainly because that was the tail-end of the Flamboyant Gothic period, and I wanted it to be that style. I think considering that the town is HEAVILY Catholic, it might have been concievable that they simply stood fast against all comers and didn't get involved in the persecutory stuff. They're a small, quiet village, after all, and as you will find out in later chapters....well, the towns in the area had reason to respect and fear St Thomas. *grins*

Squee!!
"Demolition!" Portia said, excited. [...] "Backhoe!" Portia exclaimed. Unholy glee lit her face. [...] "I'm going to buy a video camera," Portia announced. [...] "DIBS ON DRIVING THE TRUCK!" Portia shouted.
OMG. I am now officially in love with Portia. Except she's already with Luc, but I don't mind. *g*
*puts more roses (and a few backhoes) on O/F banner*
PS: The window was brilliant. Am now in love with that too.

Aw, Felix!
Also, Luc! And Portia! *squee*
Now we just need Felix/Oscar!
Also, I am in love with that window.

*tries to imagine a bedroom design that wouldn't be overwhelmed by the rose window*
*fails*
*waits on edge of seat to find out how they're going to try to win over the town*

There will be more forthcoming about it, though!

But now Felix is going to start wondering whether Oscar is Gay! And it was so clear before! But now! NOOOOOOtheyweresoclose.
Portia. OMG. I love Portia. My favorite female character of all time, bar none.
And now she has someone to shag while Felix and Oscar are busy.
Two hotel rooms instead of four! Tweee!
