So much love for this chapter. All the dialogue rang true and there were so many individual moments I really liked - the creepiness of Enid and the window, Oscar threatening Luc (a little unsuccessfully, true, but it's the thought that counts), the speculation over Felix's tattoo, and particularly Oscar and Portia's dialogue at the restaurant.
Why am I starting to suspect that this church wasn't originally as all-fired holy as the good father would have us believe? Or have I been reading too many creepy horror stories about small towns, too?
No... that definitely occurred to me too. I kept thinking about the scene in A Night in the Lonesome October where the priest has a satanic ritual in the church. Creepy.

At any rate, I am desperately dreading/looking forward to the end of this, as I suspect that you will break my heart as beautifully as last time.
Very, very well done.
