Hi. I've just been to a gig. Click below for a very brief review.
The Headlines
For a local high school band, I was impressed. Did a Stones cover too, so I was sold. Had a Libertines/Strokes/Nine Black Alps edge to them. Singer seemed a tad nervous and talked a little bit too much between songs, but for their first ever performance I was thoroughly impressed.
Scared Of Girls
Their best performance to date. When I started seeing this band live, Kelly was new to the frontperson thing, but now she has it down to a T. Plus they played my favourite song, Not About You, which rocked my socks off.
Stoney
Amazing band! Hard to describe, but they have an awesome beat to them and some great vocal harmonising. Very unique too, which is always good. No one wants imitations! Got a free CD when I saw the singer afterwards and said I would be interested in booking the band in the future..... score!
There was one more act to play called The Race, but Martin wanted to leave. Apparently we might not have missed much. Will have to find out from the others.
So Micky Kemp and Stolen Bibles is finally happening in just under a week..... and Micky wants me to open! Argh!!!
I have literally not practiced since the gig, and that was five weeks ago! Will need to get my ass in gear. Also it has been confirmed that I will be joining them in Scotland for three dates and I have a feeling that I will be the support for those dates as well. Blimey. We will have to see.
I need cover song ideas. Fire away!
