So I'm finally doing it. I'm working on my resume. Now the resume part, easy - just need to add my current job and doing a new layout for it...but that's beside the fact. Anyways, I'm working on a cover letter. See...I've never really made one before, so I'm starting from scratch. I've seen a few that I like and will be taking elements from them...

I never did a cover letter, I wouldn't even know where or how to start. Mine would say:

Hi,

Here is my resume.

Kind Regards,
Christy

hehehehe...

haha I know what you mean! I never did one cause I thought, hey my resume speaks for itself! but I'm thinking that a cover letter can only help me :) I really want to get something in the city or closer to the city so I dont have to drive so much! Plus all I do now is complain, and that's never good!

in your cover letter, you want to give details that aren't included in your resume. you start out with a brief introduction of yourself, move into what you're looking to do (specific to the company receiving your resume if possible), and then close with finishing details such as salary requirement (if you're comfortable), interview availability, contact information, etc. all in all, you want to keep it short (no more than two paragraphs), and you should only include pertinent information. the cover letter is the introduction to your resume, and if that looks good, they'll be more excited to read details of your background.

i earned a certification for resume writing for work, so if you'd like me to look it over, i'd be more than happy to help...

Good luck with revamping your resume!

My friend in HR at the terrible bank I worked at did re-did mine and claimed I would get a phone call from the job I was applying to with it. I NEVER GOT A CALL! HAA!

People tell me my resume is too informational.. but fuck them! I like to give all the information you would need like everything I did at said job and my boss' name and number.

I got a job with the TSA. I had to fill out insane forms online. If you want a government job here is the website ---> usajobs.gov.

congrats with the new job!!!! yesterday for like an hour at work I looked on monster and stuff and there's a few jobs I want to apply to. Too bad I can't look at craigslists or other sites at work :(

My actual resume is fine... I worked on it a lot during my last year of college and all I need to do now is add this job. I want to get far far away from dealing with banks/mortgages/loans. I really thought this job was going to be more marketing, and it was as first, and now it's more like an executive assistant job that I never wanted.

I think I'll check out that link for gov jobs...they're usually pretty decent and after like 2 years hard for them to fire you out of :)

I started a rough of my cover letter. Going to finish it all today and get looking! (which is about freaking time)
