What type of movie would deserve a 'A' rating on your personal rating scale of all scales of all movies of all time? I was presented with such a question today upon leaving Spiderman (which, by the way, I had given a B

Empire Records was a really cool movie. Sometimes I wish I worked in a music store. I guess I was never really cool enough. I really like the soundtrack, especially Evan Dando's cover of Big Star's 'Balad of El Goodo'. Mallrats is pretty classic as well. On a random note, did I tell you my band is playing this weekend?
Ok, I skipped to the bottom, so as not to influence my future "Spidey viewing"...but in my current state of mind (i.e, tired after 2 nights of taxing my brain on mid-terms), this is what I would pick (in random order):
1) The Shawshank Redemption
2) Pulp Fiction
3) The Silence of the Lambs
4) When Harry Met Sally
5) Amelie
6) This Is Spinal Tap
7) The Usual Suspects
8) Fight Club
9) The Princess Bride
10) Swingers
11) Platoon
I agree with you about what deserves an A rating...adding to that, the fact that I could watch them over and over again. Of course, that might go without saying. ;)

I'll have to watch The Usual Suspects again. I wasn't too impressed when I saw it the first time, and knew far before the end of the film of Victor Sensay (or whatever his name was)'s true identity. Of course, I rented it on video and was doing two or three other things while I was watching it, so maybe I need to watch it again when it can command my full attention. I really liked Pulp Fiction as well. Never really went as crazy as everybody else in the world over the soundtrack however (probably because I've never really been a big fan of Dick Dale and the whole 'surf music' scene). I know, I'm a closed minded, self-centered bastard. You shouldn't be suprised that my nickname in college was; The Short Bitter Man.

The Short Bitter Man. heh. That's good...no wonder I like you. However, I have to disagree with you about the movie. You'll have to see it again while you're not doing 14 other projects at the same time. :) then we'll discuss...
hey next time you catch up on a few months you should backlog the entries that way my screen and other friends of yours don't flood with your posts.... we can just look back in your journal to see them. :)
Re: backloggingdeadendcrushMay 13 2002, 21:57:42 UTC
Oh fuck!!! Does it really appear on everybody elses screen? Double fuck!!! I had NO IDEA!!! I thought I was just back logging. How do you get other people's posts to show up on your screen (ie: your friends). Do you have to enable that function or something? I'm a technological dumbass. Sorry. :(
there's a box you click when you enter a new entry... its ok i figured you didn't know :) its fun to read about other peoples life anyway :) i'd tell you everything that's happened to me in the past few months but i'd rather do it in person heh :P
