[In the forested area just outside the city, Mamoru has his Meowth and Ivysaur sparring each other. Ivysaur's higher stats give him the advantage, but Meowth's speed is making it difficult to land a hit.

It's only a matter of time, however, before a vine whip finds its mark and Meowth sails backwards and to the ground with a crash.]All right. Good

[low whistle from where Ken's sitting in the grass. He's kinda impressed--that's one damn big plant-dinosaur-thing.]

I think he's the biggest I've seen yet.

[And that was saying something considering how big Omi had gotten]

It's a little intimidating, isn't it? A relief they're renowned for their loyalty.

[Venusaur looks pretty pleased with himself. He yawns and walks to a sunny spot, then plops to the ground; it rumbles from the impact.]

[Natsuki takes that as a cue to go over and sniff. Perhaps use the Venusaur as an impromptu jungle gym if he doesn't get too cranky about it.]

Yeah, a little. I'm glad he'll listen to you, that's for sure.

[Venusaur lazily eyes Natsuki's approach but seems content with her explorations. Growing up has had a rather mellowing effect on him, and he respects Natsuki for how she handled herself and protected her trainer during the Shedinja incident.]

It's said they make excellent bodyguards.

[Yes, Ken, that was a hint as to why Mamoru invested in one in the first place.

Meowth, meanwhile, gets up, dusts himself off, and with impressive levels of dignity considering his defeat, meanders over to Ken and drapes himself across the young man's lap. No, no permission needed. He owns all the laps.]

[Aya comes over with his brow lifted as he looks over at the large Pokemon.]

They really can grow large...

Yeah... I heard they grew quite a bit in their final evolution, but it's still a surprise.

[He pauses then and furrows his eyebrows, looking then at the Venusaur-- specifically the large flower on its back-- and smiles.]

That's a nice scent. It's like being in the flower shop again, isn't it?

[Aya smiles a little and nods.]

I still work in a flower shop back in England actually.

[Mamoru blinks once and looks at Aya. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't interested in hearing what life was like for Aya in England. He just never imagined he'd get to find out.]

Really? How is it? Do you like it there?

[Aya-chan is watching too, sitting off to the side with her Riolu resting on her lap and Sneasel using her back as a prop while she dozes. It's her first time seeing an Ivysaur evolve, evidenced by her own surprise.]

Ehhh! He really did! He's huge! Congratulations, you guys!

[Venusaur ambles over towards Aya and you can almost see the self-satisfied smile across his face. Mamoru trains them pretty hard but the results are worth it. Either way, he thinks he's earned a break now.

The ground rumbles as he sits near Aya and-- was that Sneasel asleep? Woops. How sad.

Trainer Mamoru, meanwhile, is much less of a disturbance when he joins them.]

Thank you. I had hoped his final evolution would be soon.

[Aya considers it a bit of progress that she doesn't have to invite Mamoru for him to join her. He's always polite, but sometimes it seems like he hesitates. She lets these thoughts go quickly enough as she reaches out and up to rub the top of Venasaur's now very broad nose with a smile.

Most girls should be terrified of a giant plant monster with vines. Not Aya-chan.]

That flower on your back really suits you. It was worth the wait to see it bloom in person.

[She smiles over at Mamoru, ignoring Sneasel's soft hissing fit at being woken up.]

[Aya has no need to be afraid. Venusaur is perfectly docile around his trainer's traveling party. The blossom on its back gives off a sweet, pleasant aroma. In spite of himself, the Meowth comes over and jumps on his back to curl up and nap by the stalk.]

It looks as though it's true that the scent attracts other Pokémon. [He pauses and returns the smile.] It does smell nice.
