Things I Liked:
- It's still IRON MAN, yo. Slightly less cool that the first time, but same idea.
- RDJ is still the shit as Tony. Funny, snarky, and a badass.
- The effects were - on the whole - super cool and well done. Notably the little techie shit - the PDA, the table, etc.
- New armor(s)!
- Much as I liked Terrance Howard, Cheedle did good.
- RHODEY GET DOWN!
- The ending past the credits. Hot DAMN, yo - MJOLNIR.
- Did anyone else notice that Hammer had a ring on his pinky? Yeah, baby - it's Mandarin time.
- The drunken throwdown was awesome, though it should've ended with the big guitar wail from Sabbath's Iron Man while Tony was screaming at his party guests. Would've sold the whole "Tony's a mess" thing much better, IMHO.
Things I Didn't Like:
- Scarlett Johansen cannot act, at all, and it shows. She sure is pretty though.
- I went and saw it with the Dr., and sure as shit the whole "magic new element hidden in a model" thing was called as BS. My main gripe is that anything with a 204 atomic number would 1) have a half life of about never and 2) be so radioactive it'd kill EVERYONE. Making it using a laser/atom beam, some triangular glass, and AC/DC was just a smidge too much latitude for a couple of science nerds.
- Every single CGI effect that was silver was crap - Rhodey in the Mark II, the thing on Pepper's desk, etc. Not sure what it was about silver, but WarMachine looked a fuck of a lot better once he got his darker plating.
Verdict:
Despite SJ being nearly useless and a somewhat muddled middle, the flick was surprisingly good.
