julie is obnoxious in the comics as well. she's meant to be unlikeable. i don't know why. in the comic, no one likes her but she throws excellent parties, so that is why she has friends.
it's too bad that people are so tired of michael cera, because i think he's the one keeping people from seeing the movie. but he is an excellent scott!!
the movie takes place in about a week so that they can fit in every single evil ex. i agree that the pacing is way too fast for character development - i would have been happiest with a harry-potter-like series, but what are the chances of that happening?
i am also sad that the twins had such little screen time, especially when sandwiched next to gideon, but they don't get much attention in the books either.
anyway i think the movie is totally fun and i have seen it twice in theaters now.
According to an AVClub interview with the actress, the character of Julie is apparently in love with Scott but since he's never noticed her she's a raging bitch at him. Which sort of makes sense, I guess.
And as to the rest - yeah. I'm just saying that the things I mentioned detract from the movie AS a movie, and that they're fixed/not as bad in the comic probably means I'd find something else to bitch about there. It's still fun, right? RIGHT.
i have a lot of cranky things to say about the movie but i have a lot of cranky things to say about the books too, EVEN THOUGH i like them both in the end. i am a cranky lady.
