So what gets me out of the bed before eleven? Aside from my awful cat scratching at the bedroom door? Thats right,

As kind of a co-authored "Haha, Fuck You" to any incoming religious studies majors, there are two world-renowned Hebrew bible scholars at UCSD with the same last name. So when discussing your upcoming class schedule to people in-the-know, conversations go like this:

Me: I'm taking a Hebrew bible course this quarter, I think the professors name is "Freedman" or something.
Them: Oh! Which Freedman?
Me: Um... the one with two first names?
Them: Yea, Richard Elliott Friedman or David Noel Freedman?
Me: The real famous one.
Them: Well they're both real famous.

And so on. I honestly wasn't sure until I saw the name at the top of the syllabus (As it turns out, I'm taking the class with Richard Elliott Friedman. You may have seen him on any number of History Channel biblical documentaries of a dubious nature. He is always the one guy debunking the proposed outlandish biblical theories, like the one about aliens leading the Jews through the desert. Incidentally, isn't that awesome? It turns out David Noel Freedman is much too famous to teach undergrads. Pshaw.). The class itself is on the bible and current issues, such as women, gays, the death penalty, so on. In the next ten weeks, I see my livejournal becoming a repository for my more angry diatribes. But I will always lj cut.

The only other thing I have to say really, since it was only the first day, is that the entire Campus Crusade for Christ has apparently signed up for my early Christianity class, which I guess makes sense. My only worry is that this class requires a group project (group projects are the worst thing to ever hit college campuses) and we don't get to select our own groups. It will work out though, I'll just end up doing all the work.

I got my new digital camera in the mail yesterday. This, of course, means higher resolution, better quality photographs of myself and my cats.
