I want to talk about Billie Piper, who played Rose, in Doctor Who. I've only seen her in the David Tennant Season 2, so I don't know how she changed/if she's any different in the Season 1. And, I saw her in Journey's End / Turn Left.
Here's the thing, Rose, I both liked and didn't like her.
Things I liked:
She was smart, I remember seeing her in the episode with New New York (New Earth, I think) and before she was led by that creepy guy, she thought to grab a weapon. Once seeing that, I remember saying aloud, "Smart girl!" Because honestly--at least she thought to grab something incase she had to defend herself.
She was a good match for the Doctor. They shared a lot of laughs, which is good for him, the Doctor even said that she made him into a better person.
Things I didn't like:
I didn't like how she was willing to throw away her family and friends to travel with the Doctor. It's as Jackie said, that someday; she wasn't going to be Rose anymore. So, in a way, she was selfish. However; aren't we all a little selfish? I know if a man had a time machine and I was in love, I would probably abandon my family too.
I didn't like how she acted like she belonged on the TARDIS, how she pouted when Mickey came aboard, or how she saw Sarah Jane Smith as a threat at first (or something.) Granted, they got along later.
Rose
She was a good companion for the Doctor, street smart, but maybe a little too "I deserve to be here (in the TARDIS)". And when I saw Doomsday, I didn't cry like I thought I would, maybe because I knew Rose would get her happy ending with the Meta-crisis Doctor and live a happy life with him and both her parents.
