Setting:
The world of Metroid is fairly standard science-fiction fare. It's space, there's a lot of planets, a Galactic Federation seeking to bring peace and unity to every planet and the Space Pirates (called just that - no points for creativity) who seek to conquer the galaxy through pure, unchecked brute strength and bloody warfare. The two factions constantly clash, more often than not over the eponymous species known as Metroid. Metroids are predators that do not lacerate skin or break bones or physically injury in any way, but suck the energy from a target until it's completely dry (that is, dead), and when exposed to enough energy, reproduce, evolve and mutate into deadlier forms. The Galactic Federation and Space Pirates have both tried numerous times to harness the great capabilities of the Metroids for their own means, usually by attempting to clone them. This is typically where Samus Aran comes in.
Samus Aran was a girl living an idyllic peaceful on K-2L, a human mining colony, until Ridley showed up. A high-ranking commander of the Space Pirates, he led an assault on the colony to steal it's resources, and just because he wanted to, murder every single man, woman and child living there. He failed to account for one the colony's inhabitants igniting his ship and its incredibly volatile fuel, killing all of his forces and nearly burning him alive. The only survivors from K-2L were him, who subsisted on the corpses of K-2L's colonists until he was able to skulk away, and Samus, who was taken in by the Chozo, an ancient race of avian aliens, who were the most scientifically advanced race in the galaxy. Samus was raised by the Chozo and given their greatest piece of technology, a Power Suit that would make her capable of surviving in any environment and fighting any foe. Ridley, meanwhile, continued to tear bloody miles across the galaxy in the name of the Space Pirates, eventually happening upon the Chozo homeworld, Planet Zebes. There, he met the Chozo supercomputer, Mother Brain. The two struck a deal: she would betray the Chozo and gave Planet Zebes to the Space Pirates, and they would install her as leader. The Chozo were exiled from the planet, and Ridley set up his base there. In addition to his own forces were the energy-sucking Metroids, cloned from a cell culture stolen by the Space Pirates. Eventually, Samus Aran returned to her homeworld and...pretty much single-handedly destroyed the Pirates' entire set-up. Ridley and Mother Brain were defeated, almost all of the Metroids were destroyed, it was pretty humiliating. But the Space Pirates, Ridley especially, were nothing if not tenacious.
Metroid follows Samus Aran's journeys across the galaxy, most of which involve fighting the Space Pirates, which always involves her facing off with Ridley in some way or another. Ridley never wins, but he is perhaps the most stubborn beast in the galaxy, so it's pretty much a guarantee that no matter how much cloning or cybernetic prosthetic it takes, he'll always come back in some form or another.
Personality:
Ridley is carnage incarnate. There is simply no other way to describe him. His reason for existence is only to further his own agenda for glory and destruction. His ambition will allow him nothing less than to have the entire galaxy quake between his feet, and his bloodlust will allow him nothing less than to survey it from a mountain of the bodies of those he slaughtered to get there. He believes only in the laws of nature, that anything he does is justified by his strength, and anyone he kills was merely too weak to survive. His cruelty knows no bounds, and empathy is an entirely foreign concept to him. Despite his savage outlook on life, Ridley is far from some stupid beast. He is fiercely intelligent, even demonstrating himself capable of designing a security robot to protect his own ship (it is also worth noting that he is vain enough to make sure the robot looks exactly like him). He has also proven to be a brutally effective general time and time again. Perhaps the only thing that exceeds Ridley's ambition and thirst for destruction is his intelligence.
However, when Ridley is caught up in battle, his strength of mind will often wane, giving way to a truly savage state of mind. It is for this reason that Ridley usually opts to take to the front lines and gives up positions of greater authority to those such as Mother Brain. He doesn't exactly resent his sentience (that would be stupid), but he would be a liar if he claimed to not prefer the feeling of losing himself in battle to the somewhat sterile action of simply commanding others to it. This is why he always opts for arming himself with cybernetic restoration to his body rather than letting his body heal itself, taking the route of the quicker but exponentially more painful process: nothing enrages Ridley more than being inert or powerless. 100 times out of 10, he will choose whatever option gets him on the battlefield, commanding his troops with one hand will slashing someone's gut open with the other. He does not resent the implication that he is a monster, he revels in it. What he does resent is any challenge to his strength. For that, he despises no other greater than Samus Aran. For the somewhat obvious reason of foiling his plans and repeatedly beating him to within an inch of his life, yes, but also because the fact that she even exists to do so is an indefensible challenge to his power, in that she even lived through his assault on K-2L and that she continues the legacy of the Chozo. One thing is for certain, as long as Samus Aran still breathes, Ridley will never let his life end for good.
Abilities, Weaknesses, and Power Limitation Suggestions:
To be entirely frank, Ridley was pretty scary before he started getting cybernetic upgrades added to his body. His claws, teeth and the blade at the end of his tail are all incredibly sharp and he is incredibly adept at using them to rip and tear through just about anything that needs to be disposed of in a particularly gruesome way. His tail is particularly dangerous in that it is completely prehensile, moving just as seamlessly as it were another of Ridley's limbs. He is capable of flying with great speed and agility, maneuvering in the air more naturally than on the ground. And he, of course, has Plasma Breath, the flamethrowing choice for the futuristic dragon. With his intelligence come a significant resistance to all attempts at obsfucation and mind control, be they psychic, subliminal brainwashing, etc. Perhaps what make Ridley the perfect commander of the Space Pirates is his voice; his roar is capable of reaching a specific pitch that brings out latent aggression in certain races, forcing them into a battle-crazed frenzy.
Ridley also has a metabolism bordering on the supernatural. By feasting on the bodies of others, he quickly promotes his own growth, and if consumed in great enough numbers, can even heal life-threatening injuries. In a pinch, he can make use of his metabolism to temporarily give himself a massive boost in energy, making his attacks harder and faster, and significantly hardening his scales to the point where only the strongest concussive blasts can break through (this is denoted by his scales taking on a jet black tint). The backside to this is that he can't do it for very long without being left utterly exhausted. It is only permissible as a technique of last resort, especially if he's already injured.
On the subject of his cybernetic enhancements, many parts of Ridley's body had to be repaired. Holes in his scales were covered with armor plating, and his destroyed wings were replaced with a set of wings made from solid energy, which allow him to fly through the vacuum of space unaided. In addition, Ridley's augmentations came with several new forms of weaponry, a Meson Bomb Launcher and a Multi-Missile system (as the names suggest, a bomb and missile launcher) and an Ultrathermal Flamestrike Projector, a device in his legs that releases a shockwave of flame when Ridley strikes the ground from high up in the air.
Ridley's cybernetic augmentations were incredibly well done, but their repairs were not absolute; the plating on his chest is weaker than the rest of his body and the closest thing Ridley has to an Achilles heel. His mouth is also a good weak point. Nobody likes being shot in the mouth. When Ridley takes a significant amount of damage, his cybernetic parts will start to fail one by one. His weapons will malfunction, and his wings will burn away, rendering him unable to fly (but he can still jump pretty high).
---
Constant wear-and-tear on his cybernetic implants, and abuse to the energy supply powering them has left them at less than maximum effectiveness. His Meson Bomb-Launcher, Multi-Missile System (both using ordnance made from energy; physical munitions in any effective number would weigh Ridley down too much to be practical) and Ultrathermal Flamestrike Projector all draw from the same energy supply. Rapid overuse of this weaponry will not only drain energy, but will cause his upgrades to overheat. This is a doubly bad state to be in; loss of energy will obviously make his weapons inoperable, but will affect his other implants as well, most apparently, his wings - when his energy lowers, they will flicker constantly, making it hard for him to fly well, and impossible to fly very high at all. If his energy is empty, they'll stop working entirely, leaving him stuck on his legs with no option of flight. Overheating is almost as bad; the implants will burn and lock up, leaving even simple movements a painful, arduous chore, and leaving any particularly complex or agile battle movements a borderline impossibility. His chest is especially vulnerable in this state.
The energy supply of his implants will recharge on their own, but usually too slowly, and only when he's basically inert. The only thing to be done in that situation besides waiting an inordinate amount of time for them to recharge themselves while doing nothing is to find an external source of energy and directly hook them into his implants to recharge them. The vulnerability he would have in such a position is obvious. Similarly, the only way to deal with the implants overheating is to wait it out, but that speaks to a worse problem in the first place: Ridley's metabolism ensures he can heal from many kinds of injury, but his constant fierce battles damage his implants and necessitate just as constant repairs. Really, it's reaching the point where his whole set-up needs to be replaced rather than repaired, but such an extensive process would take longer than Ridley's patience will allow, at least until it becomes an absolute necessity, so he settles for repairing them until they break down again. He believes himself strong enough to overcome any weakness inherent in his aging hardware, and the thing is, he's right for the most part. But if he runs up against something that he can't kill relatively quickly or efficiently, the age and state of his implants starts showing very very quickly. And either way, the energy loss will usually catch up with him in some way or another, forcing him to lie low until they recharge.

OC/AU Justification ;
If AU, How is Your Version Different From Canon, and How Will That Come Across?
Let's start off by going through Ridley's own personal timeline in the official Metroid canon.
Metroid 1: He shows up, gets his shit ruined by Samus, kicking off what will be a beautiful relationship.
Between Metroid 1 and Metroid Prime: He's given numerous cybernetic enhancements by Space Pirate scientists to repair his wounds and greatly increase his threat level, taking the name Meta-Ridley.
Metroid Prime: As Meta-Ridley, he repeatedly gets in Samus' way, eventually coming to blows with her. The two fight for a while, before some really pissed off statues shoot him with laser beam eyes and send him falling off a cliff.
Between Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: He nurses his wounds for a while.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: He again gets in Samus' way, fights her, and is blown up, winding up pretty much completely atomized.
Super Metroid: The same dance happens again, although whether or not it's the same Ridley as the first or a clone or something is kind of vague. Either way, he's blown up again.
Metroid: Other M: What's almost definitely an entirely different Ridley, cloned from some gunk on Samus' suit from the last time she blew up Ridley does the "fight Samus, get ass kicked" dance again.
For the most part, this Ridley's timeline will be the same, with a couple differences.
• He'll be the same Ridley from Metroid 1 all the way to Super Metroid, constantly getting his ass beat, but not entirely destroyed.
• As an effect of never being completely destroyed, he'll keep his cybernetic enhancements, rather than reverting back to his default form, as demonstrated in Super Metroid.
• Ridley from Metroid: Other M will be completely different from this Ridley, just a clone whose origin and destruction is completely self-contained within that game.
The point of this is mostly out of practicality and convenience, dealing with some vagueness regarding which Ridley is the "genuine" one, and how many clones there are of him, a problem that really only exists due to the fact that the Metroid Prime games are very early on the timeline, despite coming out after nearly every game that canonically came after them.
Also, as he has no canonically demonstrated age, I pretty much just made one up.

Log Sample:
Ridley considered himself a fair individual. Harsh, but fair. He had not immediately flown off the handle when he had found himself in new, unfamiliar surroundings. No, he had given whoever had ripped him from his flagship an opportunity to explain themselves, beg for mercy, and return him to his rightful place. He had even given them a second warning, perhaps because he was feeling particularly charitable that day.
Then, he had started setting everything on fire.
"SHOW YOURSELF!" He bellowed, his charitable mood having long since departed. Another stream of fire shot from his mouth, igniting a pile of debris. He couldn't deny that destroying all of this garbage was mildly cathartic, but he had a hard time seeing how it would urge anybody to do anything for him, besides maybe hire him as a trash disposal service.
The uselessness of his acting out was forced in twofold when the sprinklers started, almost immediately putting out his flames and significantly drenching him as well. The same voice that (he could only assume, sarcastically) had welcomed him to this place warned him about being careful around open flames. He let out a growl and smashed the nearest piece of debris - a jeep that resembled a puma - with his tail, sending it careening off into the distance. It made him feel pretty good. The sight of the jeep smashing into the ground and catching fire was enough to get him through the chemical shower and the tour without trying to start anymore fires. Just burning more inanimate crap wouldn't have made him feel any better, anyway, he mused as he began to explore what he ascertained was a "Residential Zone".
Especially when, as his new wearable and the network it was connected to demonstrated, there were so very many living things here he could set on fire instead - including one he happened to be very familiar with.
"The Hunter," he snarled as he took a good long look at one of Samus Aran' posts on the network. Were he able to, he would've ripped his wearable off at that moment and thrown it on the ground. Then maybe stomped on it a few times. Instead, he attempted to trace the Hunter's location - he would find her, get the drop on her, and beat her until she begged for mercy. Then, he would rip her head off and set her corpse on fire. Unfortunately, the architecture of his new device was unfamiliar to him. He could not figure out how to trace her. He punched a bench out of frustration. It broke immediately, and that cheered him up a little. Rather than continue trying to find the Hunter, he brought up a map, quickly committing the names of the 32 zones to memory. Kurzweil was where he was now, apparently, and there was a Garden Zone nearby ("nearby" was a bit of moot point, with teleporter used for transporation, he mused). He would go there and do two things.
First, he would plan his next move, and what he would do about the Hunter. Second, he would take out his rapidly growing aggression on some llamas.

OOC: The following is a hypothetical post taking place if Ridley had been around during the Black Rock event.
[The feed opens on Ridley seemingly finishing a meal. As he gulps down the last of whatever it was (it was a particularly unfortunate llama), he makes an unpleasant expression.]
Terrible. Don't get me wrong, all your crying and moaning about your pain and death is actually quite entertaining. But this infection is just awful - it makes everything taste awful. Not to mention all the rocks I've nearly chipped a tooth on. [He lets out a loud, over dramatic sigh, musing as he picks up a bone, gnawing on it slightly.] Perhaps I haven't been cooking them thoroughly enough... [A couple curls of smoke escape his mouth as he ponders this. After a few seconds, he stands up.] It just figures. A perfect tool to make so many of you silent forever and the consequences almost make you all seem preferable.
[He takes to the air, flapping his wings a few times, letting out a dark chuckle.] Oh well. I believe I'll go test out that theory about through cooking. Who would care to help me test it!? Perhaps we'll cure the cough you're suffering in the process! [To make his point, he breathes a stream of fire at the camera, and shoots into the air, the feed cutting shortly afterward.]
