1963: Not a Bad Year for Movies

I had never investigated the state of film the year I was born (1963) but I gotta say, it's pretty good. There are a lot of different threads going on. I'd consider Fun In Alcapulco more of a big step on the long, downward slide of Elvis movies (though the one that really pushed his career in that direction was Blue Hawaii).

The 7 Faces of Dr. Lao was also released that year.

It is a terrible movie, but it's got some rich stuff in it, like Elvis' cliff dive, and his constant rejoined to Fernando Rey - "Why don't you take a siesta, Ramon?" Plus, I just like the fact that there was new Elvis product out in '63, though I guess every year of the '60s could say the same.
