Ranting.
So for the past few years, I hear this a lot.
"Your so closed minded about music." "Why won't you ever just try and listen to something."
Here I will explain most of it.
Rap and pop nowadays is atrocious. People making so much money, for having other people make them a beat, a simple 3 chord melody, and talking to it. Examples : 50 Cent, most rap music, Pop bitches(ashlee simpson, or whatever). To a good majority of people, they can agree with me in saying, this possess no talent whatsoever, and quite simply, it's boring. Sure some people do prefer it, but I'm no where near in this category. Some artists though, have talent and I support them in their music. Artists such as 2pac, Eminem, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony,etc.. As for pop I just dont know.
Punk/Ska/Hardcore/Metalcore: Here, some music is alright, and I can stand a good amount of it. Most of it however is quite simply the most boring shit. I can't exactly name a band, because I don't remember the name of what I have heard. Don't get me wrong, I have heard it, a lot of it, because I have a lot of friends that listen to it. Bands such as Senses Fail, Thrice, etc. Those two bands I like, but then theres bands that have horrible singers, talentless guitar players, and a semi decent drummer. This does not appeal to me, but does to some people. Whiney singing just doesn't cut it in my book. As for hardcore, most of it is horrible. It's the same shit over and over again. Some bands i like in this genre are : The Black Dahlia Murder, The Agony Scene, Himsa. These bands possess a unique, and distinctive sound, and talent. Other bands such as Walls of Jerhico, etc. are repetitive, un-melodic, and boring.
Nu-Metal : This is a genre of music that I cannot stand. Bands such as Marilyn Manson, Shitknot, Korn, and whatever. I admit, I used to like some of it, but then i started to listen to real metal, and it just doesn't stand where it used to anymore, it simply sucks. Most bands are made of gimmicks, and others are made of fans that wear slipknot shirts to Deicide concerts, shop at hot topic for these strange devices of wristbands, spikes, whatever. Most of them think Slipknot is the best band ever, and has the greatest drummer alive. But enough of the fans, the music on the other hand is nothing interesting. Some of it is catchy, and there are ups, but in return very many downs. A lot of it has to do with talent. Oh no heres the flame. SHITKNOT HAS SOLOS NOW. Yea, but the solos are shitty, sloppy, and nothing special. Maybe I'm expecting to much, but what do you expect. I also dont know where to classify ICP and all those other shitty follower bands and the fans. I simply can't stand the music at all.
And I'm sure someone will end up saying, "Well you haven't even givin it a chance, listen to it, you might like it." Oh, but i assure you, I have heard it, a lot of it, and I dont like it whatsoever.
These specific genre's are the ones most of my friends happen to listen to, and thus the reason I always rant about the music being played. As for the music I like. Sure some of you may think that is gay, sucks, whatever, and i just don't care. I know what I like, and I know talent. But all in all, I'm sure I share some of the same interests with every one of you. Most music i like : Metal ( Death, black, gore, thrash, technical, etc.), Classical music(Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Pachabel), classic rock, some of the new aged "punk", 80's(such as Boy George, Genesis, Tears for Fears), I even like SOME rap, but not much.
Shit i dont like : Most rap, most ska, most new aged metal, nu-metal, country, those faggots of ICP, stupid pop shit, most shit that plays on 107.5, 98.5 and any other channel with shit. Excuse me if i forgot some. So all in all, I don't think im picky at all. just most of the music people listen to, i think is shit, because it possesses little or no talent.
