shouldn't the New Testament trump the Old Testament?
I guess it should but no church could ever claim authority over people if they really lived according to the NT! I believe the 'abomination thing' is repeated in some of Pauls writings and therefor they still claim that part to be so very important, I could be mistaken that with the repetition of abstaining from blood too, not real sure. Then there's the wearing of fabrics containing other material than cotton, etc etc, blah and bleh!

you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another
that line makes it pretty clear most who pretend to be his disciples are more followers of men that anything else!
