I think being put in a situation where other people rely on me to be creative at a moment's notice has helped refine my methods a bit. That is, i've adapted and added some more tools to my belt of creative and creative-analytical thought ( Read more... )

many people, including myself feel that a prospecting analogy works best when describing the creative process.

you find a few flecks of gold, the beginnings of an idea,

you start panning in the river, you find some more,

you walk upstream to where the vein crosses the water, finding a bit more,

you head up into the foothills following the vein till you come across the point where the vein enters the hillside

you dig a bit more until you reveal the edge of the mother lode

at which point you know its safe to get a miner in to take over with the day to day extraction
