the norwalk virus?

when i checked my email today and got this email from a student in my TA section. who are these kids? oh right, they're all in the greek system. has anyone ever heard of this mysterious virus? i think it's just the name of their mascot or something.

norwalk is a gastroinstestinal disease, often foodborne, esp. oysters, or passed in the stool. it's often found in outbreaks and is pretty contagious. Symptoms usually last a couple days, so your student shouldn't be out too long, if he's telling the truth. that is so awesome tho, i don't know anyone who's gotten it before, if he's telling the truth.

it's called norovirus and it is just one of the many forms of stomach flu. The only reason the media is making a big deal about it is because it's actually some kind of disease that they can identify with a name.
