PARENTS.
so, my parents are moving to the same state as me. they arrive in 3 hours. my mom JUST asked if i would mind helping them move, but to get there in time, i would have to leave right now. i am also broke and without much money for gas. also, my midterms are on monday and i was planning on using tonight to study.
mom: do u want to come and help us unload? =]
me: when will that be?
mom: about 3 or 3:30
me: Ok but you never told me the address. i can come over for a while but my math midterm is on Monday.
mom: (directions)
mom: ok. do you want to come or not?
me: Do you need some help carrying things? Let me clean up and finish studying math
mom: we would appreciate help, yes. but that's what we'll be doing this evening.
mom: like i said, we won't even be there til 3 or 3:30.
me: Ok well google says that if i leave at 3 it will take me 45 minutes because it is rush hour. I wish i had known that you needed help ahead of time.
me: i was planning on doing all my math tonight.
me: Coy said he would explain the ones i didn't understand
mom: ok nevermind. i didn't necessarily want help, just to see you.... but we're going to be unloading. talk to you later.
me: ?
me: Mom, i can't have all the drama today. if you need help i can help you. i really am busy and stressed out about midterms otherwise, but i can probably come by tomorrow if that's ok
mom: sometimes you are an asshole. talk to u later.
me: Mom, i have a midterm on monday and its in math and i only understand about 50% of the material. School is a big deal.
SHE NEVER REPLIED.
she also never got a degree in anything.

i just called her on the phone and left this voice mail: "i just wanted to make sure whether you actually needed help moving, or if you just wanted to see me. because if you need help, i will help you, but if you just want to see me, i would prefer to do that tomorrow, because i am very busy. today is the day i had planned to study for my math midterm which is on monday. i have had this planned for a long time now. if i wanted to meet you at 3, i would have to leave basically right now. you have to understand, sometimes i am busy too, and i am not being an asshole. if you just wanted to see me, i would rather do that tomorrow because i also dont have a lot of money for gas."
