Just so it happens the day is over and is moving on into a new one. But first night must play around in its own dark trance. Just so it happens my classroom is right over the boiler room. Heat crawls up the floorboards and strangles me. Just so it happens I should be planning students' work for tomorrow and such, but not a sliver of motivation

This weekend seems more and more unlikely because they keep lumping with more work today... for instance, I have to finish my YEAR plan before Monday's first class. That means turn in a plan for EVERDAY for the entire school year... I'm an adult now, sadly enough.

The vibe is everything about a place. Even if it's not a good vibe--you know the place isn't without a soul or culture. But a place with no vibe or no culture--those sort of places are soulless. And the people...yikes!

This is true. I've been having a hard time connecting to the vibe of this place. It's only been 4 weeks. I have 40 more weeks to go.

Surviving--wishing I were still on the road. School has started which is keeping me busy and focused. And I've cut back on my hours at work to focus on school--so things are good. They are just were they should be--but in the back of my mind, I'm planning my Next Great Escape.

I'm already, 3 weeks into teaching, thinking of my next escape. I'm thinking somewhere a little more depraved and enchanting (yes! all at once) than Maryland.

Got any ideas?
