I'm such a bitch. I admit it. I like to have someone to dislike. It keeps my on my game and my tools sharp. And by tools, apparently I mean my scathing wit. And while it is just fine to hate one's (future) mother-in-law -- and don't get me wrong, I do -- I have developed an intense dislike for someone else that I've never even met. Did I miss something? Last I heard about your MIL and whatnot was that she sent you flowers to congratulate you on the engagement...she's since sprouted horns?

When Rich's sister came down to stay with us for a month, she started twisting things I said, in her own Borderline way, and now both the MIL and the SILs have taken sides against me. Then, R started standing up for me and for himself and the MIL blew a gasket. She sent him the most awful email, calling him names, telling him he's a cold robot and emotionally infantile, and accusing him of letting me define all his opinions. That's a brief synopsis. THEN, to follow it up, the next day she sent him another email telling him that she thought he didn't have anyone to tell him how wonderful he is (what am I, chopped liver, bitch?!) and so she was going to send him an email every day telling him something special about himself. After about three days of this, she got impatient at him not calling or responding in any way and she got on ICQ and messaged him. He told her that he was too angry to talk with her and that he would contact her when he was ready. That's the last we've heard from her. He took his time and wrote her a letter ( ... )

Oh man! I hope it works out well =/ J has some issues with his family, but thankfully it's mostly centered around his extended family so we can easily avoid them - I can't imagine how it must be for Rich and you.
