I think we (Supernatural fans and Americans in general (I can't speak for other nationalities)) have a huge double standard going on in what offends in a woman character and what offends in a male character. I don't blame the writers' in the least for making the convention fans all male. They'd have to be masochistic not to, taking into account the level of outrage they experience when they make the least bit of fun of fans that were female and therefore sacred.
I get so ... weary of this current cultural trend that says if a character is a woman or a minority, it's a sin to show him or her as anything less than perfect. How boring.
On the other hand, I didn't think this week's episode was great or especially clever. But it did make me laugh several times, and I cringed on Sam and Dean's behalf in a number of places. So not one of the best or the worst, in my opinion.
